Breaking Out of the “+1” Mindset (SES Magazine)

 

SES Toronto MagazineCanada has weathered the economic downturn better than any other G7 nation. With a high level of economic, cultural, and technological development and a favorable trading relationship and cultural integration with the US, it can hardly be described as hurting. Since nothing’s terribly broken, creating a sense of urgency around living up to our true potential is hard.

Some of us feel a constant urge to do better; most of us do not. The most likely way to propagate this feeling is to deliberately and systematically push one’s peers to improve. That’s how it is in organized sports. That’s how it is at SES conferences. And that’s how Canadians ought to behave when it comes to technological innovation and business
competitiveness.
